Crystal Rhinestone Butterfly Wands

Party Butterfly Wands

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you no doubt have seen me teasing you with this gorgeous project.
This one took a little extra time so I'm a bit late this week on my craft tutorial.

Plus I'm in the beginning stages of potty training my son, which slows everything down a bit. I know all my Mommy friends are nodding along right now..

Let' go over supplies first.

  • Lots of flat back sticky rhinestone crystals. (if you have a Michaels or Hobby lobby in your area they have a good selection. If not then you can order some from Amazon here!
  • Glitter card stock paper (craft store or online)
  • Scissors or cutting machine
  • Glue gun

If you are using the butterflies to make a wand like I am here you will also want the following..
  • Thin wood dowel
  • Rhinestone ribbon
  • Ribbon or pearl strings for extra adornments

If you don't have a cutting machine you will need to stick with a basic silhouette of a butterfly.
I'm using the cutout piece above from the Cricut store collection. You can purchase for $1 from their store.

You can find tons of butterfly printables online but if you come back by the blog this Freebie Friday I might have a little goodie for you! ;)
You can also always purchase our full set of 8 butterflies and vines in the shop.

The tedious part will be covering your butterfly with rhinestones. I won't sugar coat it, it's a pain in the butt, however it's worth it.

My rhinestone have a strong sticker back so I just peal and stick.

The back of my butterfly is a thick glitter card stock paper.
Once you have finished covering your top piece with rhinstones you can attach it to your back piece.

If you are just using a silhouette of a butterfly you can make one more like this pink one in the front.

For the wands you will need to grab your wood dowel and rhinestone ribbon.
Cover the dowel with the ribbon and secure with glue.

Add some extra sparkle if desired

Attach your butterfly with glue to your wand handle. You can double side the butterflies if you want so is 360 rhinestone sparkles!

These butterflies have so many possibilities like..
  • Party decor
  • Favor box toppers
  • Hair clips
  • Cupcake toppers

My daughter, Christabella is turning 2 next month and I'm thinking a butterfly garden theme.

In preparation for her yearly birthday photo shoot I also decided to cut one of my fairy crown designs to match the butterfly wands above.

I can't wait for my baby girl to model this!

If  you love this paper crown I designed you can buy it here for only $2!

If you enjoyed this please share!
